Clothing
Clothing appropriate for ski touring. Remember that you are going to move in an alpine environment with snow and glaciers. It can be cold, especially if the weather turns bad - but you can also sweat a lot because you work hard. Funtional, comfortable and quick-drying clothes are important. Avoid cotton. The following is a suggestion for what you can take:
 

• Hat

• Neckgaiter / balaclava

• Shell jacket and pants

• A light softsheljakke with good breathability (optional)

• Fleece shirt and possibly pants

• Moisture wicking underwear

• Thin gloves

• Thick gloves / mitts

• Ski socks

• A light and warm jacket for breaks and emergencies. Eg. a light down- or synthtic fiber insulated jacket. An extra fleece can also be used but is not as vesatile.

 
Ski gear
 

• Ski with randonneebindings (binding with a walkmode) or telemark. Skis with about 90-105 mm waist are recommended.

• Skins, cut to fit the skis

• Ski crampons/Couteaux

• Ski poles

• Ski boots with walkmode (skitouring boots)

• Boot crampons

• Ice axe for glacier use

• Climbing Harness and locking carabiner

• You can bring crevasse rescue gear if you already have it and are trained in the use of it

 
Avalanche Safety
 

• Avalanche transceiver/beacon 457 kHz

• Probe

• Shovel

 
Miscellaneous
 

• Backpack, app. 35-40 liters capacity with the posibility to attach the skis

• Goggles

• Sunglasses

• Water bottle, 1-2 liters. Most bottles will work, they just need to be leakproof. Conventional PET bottles are perfectly OK. If you use a hydration system such as Camelbak, you should also have a small/medium sized bottle as a backup because hydration systems easily freeze.

• Sunscreen

• Blister plasters/cushions, such as Compeed or similar

• Snacks and food for lunch. Powbars, nuts, dried frukt, chocolate bars, logan bread, bread ...

• Head torch

• Camera

• Telephone. Be aware that it is not always possible to charge electronic equipment in the mountain huts

 
 
Rental equipment
Touringskis, boots and most other things can often be hired in the larger Mountain Metropolises, such as Chamonix. For trips thast are a bit more off the beaten path, it is often best to bring your own or rent from home.
