Equipment for Mont Blanc Ascent (summer)

Equipment:

We need to be prepared for all kinds of weather - from hot summer weather to cold winter temperatures. We'll probably encounter everything from scorching sun to snow, rain and wind.

 

Clothes

•Warm socks, wool or synthetic

•Wicking sportsunderwear

•Hiking/softshellpants

•Shell jacket and pants (goretex or similar)

•Thin fleece shirt

•Down- or synthetic jacket - or an extra fleece

•Two pairs of gloves, one thin and one thick

•Woolen/fleece hat

•Snow gaiters

•3-part telescopic hiking poles (optional) 

•Goggles

 

Technical equipment
•Climbing helmet (rental possible)

•Climbing harness (rental possible)

•Climbing boots, crampon compatible (rental possible)

•Crampons, compatible with your type of boots  (rental possible)

•Ice axe 50-60 cm  (rental possible)

 

Miscelaneous

•Sunscreen f20-50, incl lip protection

•Sunglasses, preferably close fitting, category 4

•Waterbottles, 2x 1 liter (camelbag-type hydration systems tend to freeze up on Mont Blanc)

•Backpack, approximately 35 liter volume

•Headlamp

•Any personal medication you need
